Sophie Le Dain
Sophie Le Dain has aligned herself with the grand masters of the history of art from the Renaissance to the Orientalists.
In a graphic, calligraphic layout, she takes on board must-see characters from Michelangelo, de Vinci and others.
But more than just a reference per se, what matters to le Dain is a contemporary reinterpretation of these works.
The meeting of times and styles is also marked by the different techniques used (oils, acrylics, pastel or stencils) and the different varnishes (pearly, satins and powders).
The depth of the backgrounds puts forward the central work in a square composition of controlled strength.
Le Dain studied at Beaux Arts and the Ecole Boulle de Paris.
